Dear Rumney Readers,
We've been having a great time at story times every week! We've made duck crafts, waddled like ducks, put on a play about animals in a garden, read books about dinosaurs and a lot more!
I was happy to see a lot of you from Russell School today when your classes visited the library. We got to listen to stories, sing songs, and learn about our Summer Reading Program, which starts next month! Summer is a great time for reading. I'm planning on reading lots of books this summer, and I hope you are, too! This year's theme is "Summertime and the Reading is Easy." We will read books, sing songs, make crafts and play games that celebrate summer activities such as hiking, swimming, camping, vacationing, and more. Get ready for the fun!
Look at all the great story times we'll be having this summer!
Thursday, July 9 and Saturday, July 11: A Summer Picnic
Bring a blanket and join us on the front lawn for some fun activities and cool summer snacks!
Thursday, July 16 and Saturday, July 18: Row, Row, Row your boat
New Hampshire has many wonderful lakes and rivers for boating, canoeing, and kayaking. Paddle on down to the library for a boat-themed story time!
Thursday, July 23 and Saturday, July 25: Camp Byron G. Merrill
Do you like to go camping in the summer? Then join us for a “campfire” sing-a-long and take part in some fun camp activities!
Thursday, July 30 and Saturday, August 1: Beach Vacation
Grab your sunglasses and towel and get ready for a library beach vacation!
Thursday, August 6: Preparation for Old Home Day events
Any child who participates in Summer Reading Program events is welcome to march in the Old Home Day Parade and later perform songs learned over the summer in the Town Common. All children are welcome at summer story times without being required to participate in Old Home Day events.
Saturday, August 8: Old Home Day ~ Parade and Musical Performance
More details about specific times will be provided.
I'll see you again soon. Enjoy the end of the school year and Happy Reading!
Love,
Byron G. Bear
